USA
Colombia had as one of its 1st Cultural Ambassador to the world, a wide eyed, silky voiced girl from Bogota.
Yolima's singing career began at the tender age of 5, and together with her sister, Aida, and with their father, Benjamin Pérez as artistic director, formed what would be known as "Las Hermanitas Perez" (The Perez Sisters). The duo would reach historic heights in their native Colombia, particularly on the heels of their hit song "Encadenados" (Chained).
After Aida retired from the stage, Yolima continued with her musical career (at the tender age of 14), recording multiple romantic styled albums starting in the late 60's, and continuing into the 70's and 80's.
Among her 1st hit albums are "Amanecer Llanero" (Dawn in the plains) which marked her long lived dominance and gave a strong foundation of her power as a solo singer.
Other albums that are worth mentioning are "Buscando Cariño" (Looking for Love) which produced over half a dozen hits, and her most ambitious album to date, the Alejandro Jaen composed and produced "Mi Sueño Realizado" (My dream made reality).
Having recorded and won many gold and platinum records throughout her career, Yolima is arguably one of Colombia's 1st international stars.
Yolima currently lives in Miami Beach, Fl USA.
Mil gracias!
Personal message from the Editor -
In 2006, a storm that hit Florida caused heavy flooding to a warehouse that had all of Yolima's 1/2 inch and 1/4 inch master tapes for the albums mentioned in this web page. The flooding also took with it hundreds of photos of her career as well as video tapes of performances and live shows... Many of the record labels that would have access to these recordings have either seized operations or have been bought by other companies.
By way of this website, we are requesting for anyone that has information or that might know who might have information as to where and who might have the master tapes of the record labels Bambuco y Sonolux.
If you have such information or know of someone that might, please have them contact us. Not only was this loss an emotional blow, but it also took with it any possibility of re-issuing many of the albums mentioned on this webpage, something that not only many fans would like, but that Yolima would love to do as well, and is something that is not possible unless the master tapes are found.
Thank you very much!
